Lancer star shows drive at Canadian university golf championship

Lancer Meaghan Pototschnik is the sole University of Windsor competitor at the Canadian university golf championship this week at Cordova Bay Golf Course in Victoria, BC.

In October 2011, the nursing student earned the first Ontario University Athletics individual women’s title in Lancer history.

The national tournament features more than 150 athletes from universities and colleges across the country vying for team and individual honours. After today’s round—the tournament’s third—the field will be reduced to the top 10 men’s and the top six women’s teams, as well as any individuals within 15 strokes of the lead. Those finalists will play an additional round June 1.

After a disappointing second round of 12 over par, Pototschnik sits 12 strokes behind the leader, Waterloo’s Devon Rizzo. Follow the results on the tournament leaderboard.

The top six males and top five females at the 2012 Canadian University/College Championship will receive an exemption into the 2012 World University Golf Championships in Liberec, Czech Republic.
