Balloon festival seeking volunteers

Communications student Liam McWade is hoping to inflate some numbers this summer.

As volunteer coordinator for Balloonapalooza, he is seeking to recruit people to help mount the festival, now in its second year. McWade describes the event as kaleidoscope of colour, boasting more than 80 cold-air balloons through Windsor’s downtown core as well as entertainment for people of all ages.

“We are looking for people interested in dressing in inflatable balloon costumes, work as entertainers doing face painting, as mimes or magicians, or performing on stage as part of a band or individual act,” he says. “We are also looking for people to help with the set-up and take down of the festival.”

Balloonapalooza, organized by the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association, runs Saturday and Sunday, August 25 and 26. To learn more about volunteer opportunities, e-mail McWade at Liam@downtownwindsor.ca.
