Record-setting receiver earning national notice

If it was somehow possible to ignore the Lancer’s all-Canadian receiver Jordan Brescacin in 2011, he certainly cannot be unnoticed after the 2012 football season.

Brescacin took over the Ontario University Athletics single-season and career receptions records this past season, earning him recognition as a first team all-star in the OUA and Canadian Interuniversity Sport.

Like many outstanding athletes, Brescacin had to make difficult choices early on. He was faced with the common issue of what sport to pursue, and as his high school career began, so did his sacrifices, specifically basketball.

“In high school I stopped playing hockey altogether, and played basketball and picked up football,” he said. “Once I started playing (football), I knew it was what I wanted to do in the future.”

His next decision was where to take his football career. After graduating from St. Anne’s high school in Tecumseh, Brescacin was recruited by universities across the country. His choice to bring his talent to the Lancers was based on his comfort with staying local.

“I am very happy I picked Windsor,” said Brescacin, “The friends that I’ve made here have been really awesome and I really couldn’t see myself playing anywhere else.”

After a slow first two years playing for the Lancers, Brescacin finished his career with two provincial records and more recognition than anyone could have predicted. His plans for the future remain in football, as he will attend his second training camp with the Hamilton Tiger Cats in the spring.

Although failure seems very unlikely at this stage in his career, Brescacin still plans for life after football.

“After my football days are over, I’m planning to be a teacher and coach in high school,” he said.
