Concert to showcase top student soloists

The School for Arts and Creative Innovation will kick off its 2013 concert season with a recital showcasing some of its best performers Sunday, January 13.

The Ron W. Ianni Memorial Scholarship Competition will feature solo performances by eight student musicians vying for a $500 scholarship named to honour the late president of the University of Windsor.

These competitors qualified by receiving the highest marks in the December 2012 instrument juries:

  • pianist Anastasia Calfas
  • marimbist Meghan Chamberlain
  • bass-baritone Adam Iannetta
  • clarinettist Richard Matchett
  • trumpeter Katherine Raiger
  • jazz guitarist Tyler Sasso
  • classical guitarist Reece Smith
  • violinist Victoria Turner

The concert opens at 2:30 p.m. in room 126, Music Building. Admission is $10, with a student rate of $5. Order tickets by phone at 519-253-3000, ext. 4212, or purchase online at www.uwindsor.ca/music. Tickets will also be available at the door.
