Mobile app adds course registration; on-the-go service fits students’ busy lives

UWindsor students now have a more convenient way to get into the classes they want with the release of the registration portion of the myUWindsor mobile app, allowing registration from any smartphone or tablet device.

Course registration is the latest addition to the University’s mobile app services launched in May 2012, which, among other things, allows students to review courses, schedules, grades and exams; track and manage UWindsor finance details; access interactive campus maps, directories, cafeteria menus, events, and campus life websites; access Leddy library materials and the latest news from the Lance; and subscribe to the University’s emergency notification system, UWinAlert.

“The new mobile registration app gives students more choices to register wherever and whenever it is convenient for them,” said acting registrar Charlene Yates. “We know students have busy schedules and this on-the-go technology is another way of meeting their needs.”

UWindsor is one of the first Canadian universities to offer registration as a mobile application, says Purita Bristow, assistant director of the University’s Information Technology Services.

“This is something we are very proud of. It was a major undertaking but an important one,” she said. “From the inception of the student portal idea to this end product, we have all come together to produce one of the best products among our peers and we know it will contribute to providing exceptional service to our students.”

Students can download the app for iPhone, Blackberry, or Android device at www.uwindsor.ca/app.
