Lancer women’s basketball hailed as dynasty

An online publication has called the Lancer women’s basketball team, celebrating its third straight national championship, one of the most dominant programs in Canadian university sport.

“When thinking about a perennial Canadian basketball powerhouse program it’s safe to say that Carleton University’s men’s basketball team is the first one that comes to mind,” writes Harry Dearden in SportsEh, a social hub focused on varsity athletics.

He goes on to cite Windsor’s regular-season and playoff titles, including an undefeated 2012/13 season, as reasons to recognize the team’s success as “true dominance.” Read his entire analysis, entitled “Pound for Pound, the Only CIS Basketball Team that Can Compete with the Carleton Ravens.”

The Lancer women’s basketball team will open its training camp this week, reports head coach Chantal Vallée.
