Grainy gala to benefit community programs

Elver Peruzzo believes in giving back.

Manager of additional qualification programs for teachers at the Centre for Executive and Professional Education, he is chairing the committee organizing a fundraising gala to benefit the Victorian Order of Nurses, Saturday, August 31, at Windsor’s Fogolar Furlan Club.

The Polenta Gala Honouring the VON will start with an hour-long wine tasting preceding a gourmet seven-course meal that will feature antipasto, fettuccine, salads, chicken breast and stuffed veal as well as plenty of the corn-based main attraction.

“VON programs like Meals on Wheels, Home Help and Supportive Housing allow the elderly to have access to ongoing living assistance within the comfort of their own homes while enabling them to live with safety, independence and dignity,” says Peruzzo. “This is our way of giving back.”

Entertainment by Big Louie and the Band, raffles and a silent auction will complete the evening. Tickets are $70 per person, which includes a $35 tax receipt; contact Peruzzo at hperuzzo@uwindsor.ca or 519-256-3113, ext. 25.

The Fogolar Furlan Club is located at 1800 North Service Road.
