University promoting anniversary celebrations in a big way

Mariam Sameem is already excited about the events planned for the University’s 50th anniversary.

“I’m looking forward to volunteering on the Celebration Weekend,” says the third-year biochemistry major, who will receive training next week to prepare for her role in hosting events September 19 to 22.

Among the many weekend activities is a vintage car show, Future Lancer Kids’ Zone, a pre-game party and football game featuring a half-time performance by singers Jody and son Billy Raffoul, campus showcase tours and the Windsor Lancer Fun Run.

Returning alumni can look forward to the Rock of All Ages mix and mingle party taking place on the patio outside Vanier Hall between 8 and 11 p.m. on Friday, September 20. Alumni can reconnect and reminisce with classmates and friends, share memories and dance under the stars to music from five decades.

A 40-foot billboard at the corner of College Avenue and Huron Church Road encourages alumni and members of the community to learn more about the weekend’s activities. The marketing campaign also includes advertising on radio stations in Windsor and Chatham.
