Roll of HonourRoll of Honour: This plaque in the foyer of Memorial Hall lists former students of Assumption College killed in World War II.

Building named to honour war dead

Memorial Hall is one of the oldest buildings on campus and was part of the original Assumption College. It was completed in 1948 and is dedicated to the memory of the 121 Assumption students who gave their lives in the Second World War.

Originally constructed to house Assumption College’s Faculty of Science, Memorial Hall is currently home to the labs and offices of the Earth and Environmental Sciences Department, as well as three large classrooms.

The grounds directly outside of Memorial Hall serve as the meeting place for UWindsor’s annual Remembrance Day ceremony, scheduled for Monday, November 11, at 10:45 a.m. University tradition dictates that participants observe a moment of silence in the building’s foyer, where the names of alumni lost to conflict are memorialized on a plaque.
