Ian ConnacherFilmmaker Ian Connacher details plastic’s path over the last 100 years in a documentary to be screened on campus Wednesday.

Film traces lingering effects of plastic

From styrofoam cups to artificial organs, plastics are perhaps the most ubiquitous and versatile material ever invented. No invention in the past 100 years has had more influence and presence than synthetics, but such progress has had a cost.

In Addicted to Plastic, filmmaker Ian Connacher explores those costs, including the industry’s drastic effects on eco-systems and food chains.

The Environmental Wednesdays documentary series will screen the film at noon March 12 series in the International Student Centre on the second floor of Laurier Hall. The screening, sponsored by the centre and UWindsor Green, is free and open to the public.
