Patrons welcome opening of Campus Bookstore

Wednesday’s opening of the Campus Bookstore on the lower level of the CAW Student Centre was very rewarding after all the work that went into preparations, said manager Cathy Ladouceur. Dozens of people lined up outside the doors waiting to enter at 9 a.m.

“I was ecstatic to have people excited about seeing our new store,” Ladouceur said. “I hope everybody will keep coming back.”

Jessica Herfst, who will begin her second year of studies in psychology in September, claimed a free T-shirt as one of the first 50 visitors through the doors. She had heard about the opening through Twitter and decided to check it out.

“The store is way more than I ever imagined,” she said. “It’s so beautiful!”

She said the T-shirt giveaway was a great way to attract people to the new location: “I will add this to my collection of UWindsor gear.”

Staff cheered as Kerri Zold, applied learning coordinator in the Student Success Centre, became the store’s first customer.

“It was an honour,” she joked as she purchased a phone charger. “My new claim to fame, however fleeting.”

The Campus Bookstore will show appreciation to its loyal clientele with a sidewalk sale July 30. Watch for additional details on its website.
