Preventing workplace violence subject of presentation

Nursing professor Filomena Rowley will speak in a presentation titled “Violence Prevention for Healthcare Professionals in the Workplace” on Monday, October 20.

The presentation will include defining workplace violence and offering de-escalating techniques and strategies. Participants will receive certificates of attendance and be eligible for a door prize draw.

This event is one of several planned by the Faculty of Nursing as part of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Open School Patient Safety Learning Series.

Other presentations in the series include:

  • “To Err is Human… What should I do if I am involved in an error?” with Michelle Freeman, Susan Dennison and nursing students on October 27;
  • “Skin Integrity and Patient Safety” with Sherry Morrel on October 29; and
  • “Fall Prevention” with Rosemary Petrakos and a team from Windsor Regional Hospital on November 10.
