Staffer signs on to mayor’s city promotion

A UWindsor staff member is encouraging the campus community to support an effort by Windsor mayor Drew Dilkens to highlight the city’s appeal in a national magazine.

Dilkens penned a profile of the city for Canadian Living’s Our Canada series, which describes communities across the country. He details five reasons why he loves Windsor: the scenic waterfront; diverse culinary delights; Coventry Gardens and the Peace Fountain; the new aquatic centre and family water park; and the region’s status as a two-nation vacation destination.

The piece is currently published on the magazine’s website. The Our Canada series asks Canadians to nominate their communities for a chance to be featured during the magazine’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

It’s a great chance to garner some attention from across the country, says Anne Dube, administrative assistant in the Centre for Smart Community Innovation.

“Windsor could be put on the map if we all send in our bragging rights,” Dube says. “I know the story does not pertain to the University only, but certainly we’re one of the jewels in this area.”
