Country’s elite athletes ready to hit the track

The best university athletes from coast to coast will converge on Windsor as the Canadian Interuniversity Sport track and field championships open today at the St. Denis Centre.

The first final of the three-day event, the women’s weight throw comes at 2 p.m. The tournament will conclude Saturday afternoon with the always exciting 4x400m relays. Selected events will be webcast live daily at www.CIS-SIC.tv.

Lancer Alex Ullman is ranked first in the 600m race, and the Windsor team in the men’s 4x800m relay also holds top billing heading into the meet. Read a full preview analysis on the CIS website.

Passes for the weekend are available for purchase at the gate. General admission is $25, with a student and senior rate of $20 and special $12 price for youth under 12 years old.
