Faceless conductor standing before orchestraThis could be you: a chance to lead the Windsor Symphony Orchestra awaits, today in the CAW Student Centre.

Competition winner called upon to justify studying humanities

A public reception today will unveil the winner of the “Why Humanities?” competition, whose proclamation on the relevance of their study will win a semester’s tuition. Five finalists will each receive prizes at the event, which begins at 5 p.m. in the Ambassador Auditorium, CAW Student Centre:

The contest celebrates Humanities Week. Other events today include Windsor Symphony Orchestra presentation “Conduct Us” at noon in the CAW Student Centre Commons and a Humanities Café at 1 p.m. in the Leddy Library.

Conduct Us will feature musicians of the orchestra set up and ready to play, awaiting only volunteers to take to the podium, pick up the baton, and lead them. When the symphony first tried this, last year in Devonshire Mall, it drew conductors from three to 80 years old.
