Campus offices can get a head start on planning for the orientation program Head Start, which will welcome incoming students in late spring.
The program, run by the Student Success Centre, encourages incoming students to meet other new and current students while they learn about the campus community, their academic programs, student services, and more.
In 2015, more than 1,200 new students and their family members attended. The centre invites faculty and staff to mark their calendars for this year’s dates:
- May 27, 28, 30—inter-faculty programs as well as those in business, engineering, nursing and science;
- June 3, 4, 6—programs in human kinetics and the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
The schedule includes two Saturdays for the first time, says Student Success Centre director Beth Oakley.
“We believe these dates will better service those students and their families who find it more convenient to travel to campus without missing school or work,” she says.
The centre will post updates and details on Head Start 2016 on its website as they become available during the winter semester.
