Alumni Association award to benefit student entrepreneurs

A new financial award sponsored by the University of Windsor Alumni Association will encourage and support the entrepreneurial efforts of UWindsor students at the Entrepreneurship Practice and Innovation Centre (EPICentre). The Alumni Association EPIC Founders Award was announced during the EPICentre’s first anniversary celebrations last week.

The award was created through revenue generated from the annual Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament; it will provide $25,000 in support of EPICentre’s mission to encourage the personal success and economic well-being of UWindsor students, graduates and the community.

EPICentre provides collaborative innovation space for new and existing ventures; mentors start-ups; and supports innovation and technology transfer, job creation, and business sustainability.

The Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament is enjoyed each year by more than 100 University of Windsor graduates, corporate sponsors and the community, whose gift will help students in the early stages of developing a business idea. Students in the EPIC Founders program work and are paid from May to July to explore their business product viability, create their business model and learn the “Starting Lean” methodology.
