The Alumni Association asks that guests planning to attend a reception Thursday honouring the contributions of George McMahon (BA 1956) to the University of Windsor register in advance.

McMahon was present at the University’s inception—joining its faculty in July 1963. He taught history while serving as the assistant to the dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science, and later served as the University’s first dean of students, assistant vice-president student services and assistant vice-president alumni affairs.

Upon his retirement in 1996, he turned his hand to recording the institution’s stories in his books The Dean’s Story, the biography of Rev. N.J. Ruth, C.S.B., published in 1997; Pure Zeal: A History of Assumption College 1870-1946, published in 2002; The Personal Papers of Dr. J. Francis Leddy, Volume 1, published in 2005; and 2013’s Rev. E.C. LeBel and the Creation of the University of Windsor.

The April 28 reception runs 5 to 7 p.m. in the Welcome Centre. To confirm your attendance, register here.
