Acting deans appointed to two faculties

The University of Windsor has appointed acting deans to oversee the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and the Odette School of Business.

Both appointments are for two-year terms: Marcello Guarini to Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and Mitch Fields to the Odette School of Business

Dr. Guarini is well-known within the faculty, having served as head of the philosophy department and as a research leadership chair before that. He brings an excellent awareness of the faculty, and is committed to working with all heads and directors, and faculty and staff, to help forge the necessary consensus about how best to tackle the various challenges and opportunities.

Dr. Fields has a strong history within Odette, and a broad awareness of both domestic and international recruitment. He has been directly involved in the Master’s of Management and MBA programs, and through his recent role as executive director of Co-op, Career and Employment Services, he has led an expansion in the services available to students to help them prepare for career opportunities following graduation.

“I am delighted that Dr. Guarini and Dr. Fields have agreed to step into these important roles,” said president Alan Wildeman. “They are both highly experienced and aware of the opportunities for FAHSS and the Odette School of Business. I thank the many faculty and staff who provided input into the process of seeking acting dean appointments.”

New decanal searches in both Odette and FAHSS are expected to begin within a year’s time.
