Backers invited to cheer on alumnae bound for Olympics

A send-off reception will give fans an opportunity to boost Lancer alumnae Noelle Montcalm, Melissa Bishop and Miah-Marie Langlois as they head off for Rio de Janeiro to represent Canada in the 2016 Olympic Games.

During the Games, August 5 to 21, Langlois will play guard for the women’s basketball team, Montcalm will compete in the 400m hurdles and Bishop will run the 800m race.

The reception is scheduled for noon Tuesday, July 26, in the St. Denis Centre’s Dennis Fairall fieldhouse. Besides light refreshments, fans will enjoy an opportunity to receive an autographed poster in exchange for a donation to support these elite athletes and their trip to Rio.

Organizers encourage guests to wear red and white apparel to show their national spirit.

If you intend to attend, RSVP by July 21 to mrennie@uwindsor.ca.
