Volunteer canvassers gathered Tuesday for a luncheon to kick off the Annual Giving Program, which raises funds for scholarships and other campus priorities such as research equipment, library resources or enhanced learning spaces.
A key component of the campaign is the support of UWindsor faculty and staff, says coordinator Shae Kavanaugh.
“We are so proud to see our employees committing to our students in this way,” she says. “When our canvassers spread out across the campus to ask for contributions, they are helping to realize the promise of our university.”
Last year’s campus campaign raised more than $330,000, allowing UWindsor students to:
- work with cutting-edge technology alongside professors;
- experience state-of-the-art facilities; and
- gain scholarship support for their post-secondary educations.
“I hope our staff members and faculty will continue their giving in support of student achievement,” Kavanaugh says.
Also gearing up is the Alumni and Friends Phonathon, which will see student callers reach out to UWindsor grads. They will begin dialling October 6, and continue through the end of the month.
“This is our opportunity to connect with our alumni, update them on what’s happening at their alma mater, and ask for their contributions to the success of current students,” Kavanaugh says.
