Lecture to consider legal status of Indigenous traditions

A free public lecture Monday at the Faculty of Law will explore the treatment of Aboriginal law in Canadian courts.

Karen DrakeKaren Drake, a professor of law at Lakehead University, will deliver “Indigenous Traditions in Court: Hearsay or Foreign Law?” at noon October 17 in the Farmer Conference Room, Ron W. Ianni Faculty of Law Building.

Drake is a citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario, a member of the Board of Directors of the Indigenous Bar Association, and a commissioner with the Ontario Human Rights Commission and the Commission on Métis Rights and Self-Government.
