Charity flag-raising holds promise of raffle win

The campus campaign for United Way will kick off its annual pledge drive today — Tuesday, November 1 — with an event to raise its profile and its flag. Officials from the University and the charity will be on hand at 10 a.m. outside Chrysler Hall Tower for the ceremony.

Attendees will receive free coffee and doughnut bites and a ballot to enter a draw for a free vacation day or a $50 gift card to Costco.

Volunteer canvassers have begun distributing pledge forms to colleagues, seeking their support for the United Way’s investment in three priority areas: reducing poverty, supporting kids and families, and strengthening neighbourhoods.
