Poem promotes year-end donations to University

Although university offices will be closed at the end of this week, donors whose gifts are postmarked before the end of the year will receive a tax receipt for application to their 2016 taxes.

A seasonal rhyme by business student Katie Marino explains:

’Tis the Season of Giving

’Twas the week before winter break, when all through the school
Not a person outside as the weather grew cool.
The exams were written by the professors with care
In anticipation that their students would soon be prepared.

When out on the campus there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my study cubicle to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I ran like the track team,
Peered out… when I saw it I started to gleam.

The sun glaring off of the new fallen snow
Made it hard on my eyes to see what was below.
But what to my tired brain should appear?
Our wonderful UWindsor family, donating before the end of the year.

From scholarships to building funds — the donations will go
To bettering our school and helping it grow.
Be more rapid than a Lancer if you plan to donate,
For December 31st your generosity must predate.

Please donate, please give, to your home away from home.
Throughout campus, your kindness is appreciated wherever you roam.
Don’t forget, if you donate you’ll get a tax receipt!
From a UWindsor student, may your holidays be sweet!
