Students support Lancer Sport and Recreation Centre

A ‘yes’ vote by full-time undergraduates governed by the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance is one more step toward the $73-million Lancer Sport and Recreation Centre.

More than 64 per cent of voters — 2,510 of 3,901 — approved the new athletic fee in a referendum last week. The fee, originally slated at $125 a year once the facility opens, is expected to raise $55 million over its 30-year term. Similar referenda by members of the Organization of Part-time Undergraduate Students and the Graduate Student Society had already been held, with both of these student bodies voting in favour of the special fee.

The University now waits for official word from all three student bodies that their referenda are completed, and that the next steps in developing the project can begin.
