Educational event extends invitation to engage with innovation

Volunteers have prepared hands-on activities, experiments and demonstrations for audiences of all ages during the family-friendly festival Science Rendezvous, Saturday, May 13, in the CAW Student Centre.

The annual event, held in multiple locations across Canada, promotes the importance of science to our society and serves to nurture a culture of discovery.

“We are working to engage members of the public, transforming them from passive supporters of science and engineering to active, passionate champions with an understanding of the critical role science plays in our rapidly changing world,” says Ibrahim Rizvi, student chair of the Windsor organizing committee. “Our goal is to inspire everyone to keep their curiosity about science alive, and to encourage a drive toward innovation.”

Planned activities include making a model catapult from craft sticks and elastic bands, constructing molecules out of candy, competing in a science trivia challenge, and the Phunky Physics and Chemistry Magic shows.

Admission is free and the event runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Find more information and a pass for complimentary parking on the Science Rendezvous website.
