Orientation program provides Head Start to incoming students

A presentation on student financial aid was the best part of her Head Start experience, said Brandy Ruggaber.

“I knew what OSAP was, but not how it works,” she said Friday during the first day of the 2017 orientation program. A Grade 12 student at Essex District High School, she plans to begin studies in psychology at the University of Windsor in September.

“It’s good to get a better feel for the University,” Ruggaber said. “I’ve never been to the campus.”

Her classmate Taylar Clifford attended Head Start to double-check her course schedule with academic advisors, and make some new friends. She also took the opportunity to sign the Class of 2021 banner that will grace Convocation ceremonies four years from now.

Staff of the Student Success and Leadership Centre invite UWindsor employees to wear “Ask Me” buttons through this period, making it easier for visitors to identify people who can provide them with a welcoming smile, directions or basic information.

The buttons are available from Shelby Marchand in the Student Success and Leadership Centre at shelby@uwindsor.ca.
