Dozens of eager bargain hunters jammed the south lobby of the Music Building well before noon Wednesday in anticipation of the moving sale, disposing of items surplus to the new home of the School of Creative Arts.
It was a fantastic response, says organizer Trevor Pittman. Despite the crowds, shoppers were orderly.
“Almost everything sold in just over an hour,” he said as he looked over the remaining stock. “Our things have found good homes.”
Former instructors and grads looking for mementos joined current members of the campus and broader communities buying sound equipment, instruments and more. While most of the specialized items have sold, there is still furniture available for purchase, Pittman says — desks, chairs, filing cabinets.
The sale will continue Thursday, June 29, from noon to 7 p.m.
The music program will take up residence with the rest of the School of Creative Arts downtown in the former Windsor Armouries later this year.
