Music festival a chance to unwind and unplug

The Island Unplugged music festival, August 5 and 6 on Pelee Island, isn’t about acoustic music, say organizers — it offers listeners a chance to unplug themselves.

“Slow down and get on island time,” suggests chair Rod Strickland, a UWindsor professor in the School of Creative Arts.

The festival promotes Canadian artists, including the Coffee House Combo, which features music students and alumni: Andrew Adoranti on keyboards, saxophonist Sebastian Bachmeier, vocalist Natalie Culmone, trumpeter Austin Di Pietro, percussionist Vanessa Rose, and bassist Marko Rozic.

It is set just steps from the island’s East Shore Beach, offering camping onsite and shopping in an Artisans Alley. Find ticket details, a complete list of artists, full schedule, and accommodations information on the event website: theislandunplugged.org.
