Week’s worth of events to consider energy sustainability

Events on the University of Windsor campus this week will celebrate energy conservation and the development of renewable sources of power.

Organized by Tanya Basok, UWindsor environmental sustainability advocate, Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy Week will kick off with a reception Tuesday, October 3, to announce winners of the Green Future Competition.

The contest invited students to showcase their research projects on the subject and will award cash prizes worth $500, $300, and $200. The ceremony is set for 3 p.m. in the EPICentre workshop room on the second floor of the Joyce Entrepreneurship Centre.

A screening of the documentary film Switch, which explores energy resources from coal to solar, oil to biofuels, is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 4.

Expert panels will discuss “Climate Change and Energy Conservation” and “Towards Renewable Energy in Windsor” in two sessions on Thursday, October 5.
