A free public presentation Wednesday, October 18, will discuss an educational program aimed at helping disadvantaged peoples in the correctional system avoid the revolving-door trap.

Lorraine Pinnock and Rachel Fayter will discuss “From Sentencing to Release: Examining ways patriarchy shapes women’s stay in Canada’s Prison System through the Walls-to-Bridges pedagogy” at 5:30 p.m. in Katzman Lounge, Vanier Hall.

The two are members of the Walls-to-Bridges collective, which provides university- or college-based classes in jails, prison, and community correctional settings.

The event is hosted by the Women’s and Gender Studies program in observance of Person’s Day, the anniversary of the 1929 judicial decision including women in the legal definition of “persons.” Learn more on the Facebook event page.
