Genie-winning film up for free screening Wednesday

The Leddy Library will host a free screening of the 1987 film I’ve Heard the Mermaids Singing in its main floor seating area on Wednesday, April 4, at 7 p.m.

The quirky comedy-drama won writer and director Patricia Rozema — who hails from Sarnia — the Prix de la jeunesse at the Cannes Film Festival, and earned Genies for lead actress Sheila McCarthy and supporting actress Paule Baillargeon.

The screening celebrates National Canadian Film Day, dedicated this year to women in Canadian film. Moviegoers will also enjoy free popcorn. Learn more on the Leddy’s event listing.
