Fair opens students to avenues of experience

Involvement Fair provided something valuable to UWindsor students, says Madison Hearn: a chance to explore ways to engage with the campus community.

A first-year student entering medical physics, she toured booths and displays staffed by dozens of student associations and university services Tuesday in the David Wilson Commons.

“I’ve already signed up for Students Offering Support and the PASS program,” Hearn said as she collected a T-shirt denoting her participation in UWindsor Welcome Week activities. “Today’s event gives people the opportunity to get involved.”

Students also joined a scavenger hunt that sent them scouting locations across the campus and trooped to the St. Denis Centre to watch an exhibition game between Lancer men’s basketball and Grand Valley State.

Today — Wednesday, September 5 — new students will attend orientation sessions for each academic program, then gather at 3 p.m. for Welcoming Celebration in the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.

UWindsor Welcome Week continues on Thursday with the start of classes; a chance to meet members of the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance executive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the student centre; and free frozen treats from the office of Career Development and Experiential Learning in the Joyce Entrepreneurship Centre.
