Open house to invite prospective students onto campus Saturday

Prospective students will have a chance to engage with current students and professors in friendly cafés operated by each faculty during the University of Windsor’s Spring Open House on Saturday, March 2.

Register online to attend.

The cafés provide a convivial setting for discussion of questions particular to individual academic programs. They will run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in locations across campus. The day’s activities also include tours of campus facilities, an information fair on support services, and sessions on student life, financial aid, and the Outstanding Scholars program.

The open house is one of the most important events in the student recruitment cycle, says Chris Busch, acting associate vice-president, enrolment management.

“It takes a lot of effort by people right across the University to properly welcome our guests on this day,” he says. “We owe many thanks to all those staff, faculty, and students who provide a taste of the Windsor experience.”

Presentations on academic courses of study will cover the gamut from aeronautics to women’s and gender studies. A special session hosted by the latter program will invite attendees to learn about the role of political buttons in activism while making their own.

Other highlights include free admission to the University Players performance of its current production, God of Carnage, and a series of lectures by history professors that culminates in a walking tour exploring the relationship between the University and Assumption Parish.

A motorcoach will provide free transportation for those travelling from Toronto, Mississauga, or London.

“You and your family can relax while we do the driving,” Busch says. “Talk with current students, have a snack, and win UWindsor swag on your way.”

He encourages those planning to attend — and those unable to for whatever reason — to share information about the event through their social and professional networks.
