Ticket donation to open theatre to community

As part of an effort to connect with the community, University Players will donate 2,500 tickets to local charities and non-profit organizations over the course of its 61st theatre season.

The 50x50: Community Connections campaign will distribute packages of 50 tickets for 50 different performances to 50 community groups.

“Here in Windsor-Essex, we have a ton of amazing local theatre groups, and the arts community is so supportive,” says Kristen Siapas, organizer of this year’s campaign.

“We wanted to provide an opportunity for people who might not normally engage in theatre to have a chance to see something new — student actors working with professional directors and designers to create world-class entertainment, right on the University of Windsor campus.”

Non-profit groups interested in receiving tickets should contact the University Players box office to inquire about availability.

The campaign kicks off with an opening-night reception for William Shakespeare’s Othello, Sept. 27 in the lobby of Essex Hall.

University Players offers season packages and individual tickets for six shows through the school year. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased at www.universityplayers.com or by phoning the box office at 519-253-3000, ext. 2808.

University of Windsor students can purchase a ticket for just $8, and regular price tickets start at $19.
