Campus community pitches in to clean up neighbourhood

Almost 200 students, staff, and faculty members came out Monday afternoon to help clean up streets neighbouring the main campus.

#OurCommunity Clean-up Day saw volunteers pick up litter from University to College avenues, from Sunset St. to Bridge Ave.

Mounted with the support of the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance and the Sandwich residents’ association Our West End, it was part of the #UWinProud spirit campaign, explains organizer Sarah Racinsky, communications assistant in the Office of Student Experience.

“We’re so pleased with the first of what we hope will become an annual event,” she said. “Our volunteers really made a difference and I know they got a good feeling from improving our neighbourhoods.”

Racinsky said crews filled dozens of trash bags before gathering for a celebration of the day’s successes.
