Observance to honour victims of anti-transgender violence

Kael SharmanUWindsor women’s and gender studies grad Kael Sharman (BA 1999, B.Ed 2000, M.Ed 2006, PhD 2014) is the guest speaker at a campus event to honour the memory of transgender people whose lives were lost to acts of anti-transgender violence.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance is observed annually on Nov. 20. Dr. Sherman will speak at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Katzman Lounge, Vanier Hall. His involvement in the feminist community includes mediating transgender groups at Windsor Pride, raising funds for Windsor Pride and Gender and Sexuality Alliances in local schools, presenting at the Social Justice Forum, and speaking in classes in women’s and gender studies.
