Puck to drop Wednesday on men’s hockey playoffs

Student fans will gain free admission as Lancer men’s hockey opens its playoff hunt on Wednesday, Feb. 12.

The athletics department, Residence Services, and International Student Centre have teamed up to help students attend the first game in the best-of-three series against the Brock Badgers, covering the cost of admission and providing transportation.

A free shuttle bus will leave campus in time for the 7:30 p.m. faceoff at the Capri Pizza Recreation Complex, where UWindsor students will receive free admission.

This is the 11th straight year the Lancers have qualified for the post-season, and head coach Kevin Hamlin notes his squad is seven wins away from a championship.

“We couldn’t care less if we’re playing the first-place team in the OUA or the 10th-place team, we don’t want this season to end,” he says.

The bus will leave Vanier Circle at 6:45 p.m. returning from the arena at 10 p.m. Students can get their free tickets on the bus or at the gate with ID.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for youth and seniors. They are available for purchase in advance at www.goLancers.ca/tickets.

Game two is set for Friday, Feb. 14, at Brock at 7:15 p.m., with game three — if necessary — back in Windsor on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m. All games will be webcast live at OUA.tv.
