President discusses process for return to campus

The University is beginning a “welcome discussion” on starting the transition resuming on-campus activities, president Robert Gordon announced in a video message to the campus community Friday.

“When the transition to return to campus begins, we will be following the best practices from other sectors and regions and we will also follow the direct lead of our provincial government,” Dr. Gordon said.

He noted that Ontario premier Doug Ford has not attached any dates to his framework for the easing of social isolation restrictions that is dependent on containment of the virus, the capacity of the health system to handle any surge in cases, and the ability to quickly trace any new COVID cases.

“Depending on the lead of the province, our transition could begin over the next few weeks, but it could be longer,” said Gordon. “We will be doing everything possible to provide clear and concise information and updates to the campus community over the coming weeks.”
