Program to provide welcoming support for international arrivals

International students travelling to Canada to begin study at the University of Windsor will find support from a team assembled under a comprehensive action plan, promises the Office of Student Experience.

“We have followed the guidelines laid out by the government, so our students won’t have trouble at the border,” says Beth Oakley, director of the International Student Centre.

All international students, including those in the English Language Improvement Program, will receive instructions on the steps they need to follow to travel to Canada and then quarantine. The plan requires them to submit a form detailing their travel itinerary and arrangements for a 14-day quarantine.

“We want our partners on campus — faculty and staff in other departments — to understand that we are prepared to offer comprehensive support to our arriving students,” says Oakley. “Whether they’re bored and looking for activities or feeling ill and want to connect with Student Health Services, a member of our team will reach out regularly to ensure they are well-supported.”
