Patient safety focus of online learning series

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement presents two events in its Open School series this semester. Each will run for an hour starting at 11:30 a.m. using the Microsoft Team videconferencing platform.

Family Birthing Centre and More OB: Monday, March 22
Deidre Nielsen and Emily Petrakos, nursing clinical practice managers at Windsor Regional Hospital, will discuss the orientation process in the Family Birthing Centre; education and cross-training; and their experience with the More OB program including how it influences teamwork, collaboration, and competency within the department.

Identifying Burnout and Building Resilience: Monday, April 5
Adam Sirek, an adjunct research professor and interprofessional education academic lead with the Schulich School of Medicine, will discuss how to identify burnout and how to build resilience for healthcare providers. Dr. Sirek practices family, occupational, and aerospace medicine.

These are free events open to everyone, including students, faculty, and staff from all disciplines and individuals from outside the University who have an interest in patient safety. Organizers will provide certificates of attendance as these sessions are interprofessional education.
