Newsletter offers tips for local outdoor activities

Being in nature has many benefits for physical, emotional, and mental health, according to the July 2021 edition of Workplace Wellness E-Digest, and Windsor-Essex County offers many options for outdoor activities.

“Spending time in green spaces such as forests, gardens, parks can reduce the stress hormone cortisol and increase the feel-good hormones endorphin and dopamine,” the newsletter promises.

Published by the Department of Human Resources’ Office of Employee Engagement and Development, it suggests hiking, cycling, birding, camping, fishing, or simply being in nature, and offers resources to help plan your next outdoor adventure.

It links to information from the Essex Region Conservation Authority, Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island, and Ontario Parks — and promotes a July 28 lunch and learn workshop on exploring Windsor-Essex.
