K.W. Michael SiuA consultation will prepare for the launch of an appointments committee for the successor to Vice-President, Research and Innovation K.W. Michael Siu.

Team to consult on role of Vice-President, Research and Innovation

K.W. Michael Siu will complete his second term as UWindsor vice-president, research and innovation in the fall of 2022. As the process for appointing his successor begins to unfold, a consultation team has been established to explore campus perspectives on how the role should evolve.

Professors Rick Caron from the Department of Math and Statistics and Myra Tawfik from the Faculty of Law will lead these consultations, supported by Kate Hargreaves, graduate secretary in math and statistics. The team will reach out for input from faculty, staff, and students who engage in, lead, and support research at the University.

President Robert Gordon says he is thrilled that professors Tawfik and Caron have agreed to take on these important roles.

“The landscape of research and innovation in universities is constantly evolving and this is an opportune time for us to hear from our community on future directions and the changing priorities and needs of scholars across campus,” Dr. Gordon says. “We will also be incorporating what we learn into the University’s strategic planning process."

More information about these consultations and how members of the campus community can participate will be available in the coming weeks.
