Students hailed for role in keeping campus safe

The Office of Health and Safety paid tribute to more than 60 students who served as Student Safety Ambassadors through the acute phases of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this role, students were positioned at designated building entrances to ensure that anyone who entered completed the active screening through the Safe Lancer App, along with assisting individuals with the QR code scanning process.

“As we move towards passive screening and a more open campus, it’s important that we acknowledge these students,” said Sherri Lynne Menard, environmental health and safety manager. “We’re grateful that they stepped up and played an important part in our multi-layered approach towards keeping campus safe.”

In addition to keeping the campus community safe, the students logged more than 5,000 working hours in what proved a valuable employment opportunity.
