Alumni honour physics prof for dedication to teaching

The University of Windsor Alumni Association will bestow its Alumni Award for Distinguished Contributions to University Teaching on physics professor Steven Rehse during Spring Convocation ceremonies today.

The award honours faculty members — nominated by colleagues, alumni, and students — as incentive and encouragement for achieving excellence in teaching and learning at the University of Windsor.

Dr. Rehse is being honoured for his significant positive impact on science students both in the classroom and the laboratory, emphasizing his teaching philosophy focused on the three concepts of activity, clarity, and relevance.

The alumni association cited his enthusiasm, versatility, and genuine desire to create and nurture student interest in science. His expertise in physics led to the creation of the University of Windsor’s medical physics undergraduate program, renowned for its rigorous curriculum, guest lectures, and spirited student engagement.

Rehse will receive his award at the 10 a.m. June 16 session of the University’s 117th Convocation. Ceremonies continue through Friday at the WFCU Centre. All sessions are available for viewing on the Convocation website.
