Office of Open Learning gets new acting director

Nick Baker has been appointed acting director of the Office of Open Learning for a period of one year.

Seconded from his position as learning specialist in the Centre for Teaching and Learning, Baker has focused on teaching improvement, curriculum design, the integration of new learning technologies, and online education over the last few years.

Math and statistics professor Rick Caron calls chemistry professor emeritus Roger Thibert one of his favourite people. That is why he was so honoured to be named one of the inaugural recipients of the Roger Thibert Teaching Excellence Award, Monday at the Celebration of Teaching Excellence.

“I thought, if I’m going to get a teaching award, this is the one I want,” Dr. Caron said. “I feel such a kinship with the man for his dedication to his students.”

UWindsor runners rising to anti-cancer challenge

Students, staff and faculty across campus are signing on to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s Run for the Cure, Sunday, October 2, on Windsor’s riverfront. The foundation has launched a challenge to Canada’s colleges and universities, inviting them to compete with other institutions in an effort to maximize fundraising to support its vision of creating a future without breast cancer.

Josh Paglione, director of student life for the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance, hopes to draw representation from every club to his team.
