Campus police reach out to area residents with free light bulbs

Sandra Lloyd says it’s “a bit of a ghost town” in the area around the front of her California Avenue home when students aren’t around.

So she was extremely happy when Rosemary Briscoe showed up on her front porch Friday morning with an early Christmas gift of some new LED light bulbs to help illuminate the area.

Emergency notification system alerts UWindsor community to industrial fire

Some members of the campus community didn’t have to see the plume of black smoke to know that a fire was raging in a plastic recycling plant on Windsor’s west side Tuesday afternoon. Registrants with the UWindsorAlert emergency notification system received notice of the fire through their telephones and e-mail, providing status reports and suggesting safety measures.

Campus police sergeant Chris Zelezney generated messages to individuals located toward the south end of campus.

Campus Police issue warning following attempted theft

The Campus Community Police Service urges everyone to be aware of their surroundings after an attempted theft Wednesday evening on Riverside Drive near the Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research. A student walking there was approached from behind by a lone man who attempted to grab his backpack. The student managed to hold onto the backpack and the suspect fled.
