Academic and administrative units may seek revenue by accepting advertising on their websites under a policy approved by the University.
The University is sensitive to the impact advertising could have on its reputation, says web communications director John Powell.
“The policy is meant to ensure consistent and appropriate advertisements on our web pages,” he says. “Any commercial activities must support the academic mission of the University.”

It was cold in Windsor on Wednesday, but hearing testimonies to the winners of Employee Recognition Awards was enough to warm anyone’s heart, chief human resources officer Rita LaCivita told a reception gathered in Vanier Hall to honour the inaugural group of award recipients.

Communication: It’s not just about e-mail
Wednesday, December 5, 9 a.m. to noon in Oak Room, Vanier Hall

You don’t need an excuse to be nice, but you’ll have one anyway this Friday, November 9: the WindsorEssex Community Foundation has designated it Random Act of Kindness Day.
Individuals and groups are encouraged to perform one simple act of kindness for someone else—neighbours, friends, co-workers, or someone they don’t even know—and hand them a card, inspiring them to do the same.
A display in the Leddy Library this month will help alert students to the benefits of the myUWindsor app, available for download to iPhone, Blackberry or Android smart devices.
The app puts course information, exam schedules, directed messaging and more right in the palms of users’ hands, says John Powell, director of web communications.
“It’s accessible at any time, wherever you are,” he says.
Information Technology Services developed the app and launched it in May. So far, more than 7,200 users have downloaded it.
