Sunny days: warm weather has students shedding socks

Barefooting: First-year psychology major Patrick Murphy was one of hundreds of students on campus Wednesday to don sandals and shorts yesterday, as the temperature climbed well above 20˚ C.

“The sun is out, so I threw off my shoes and threw on some flip-flops,” he said.

University Bookstore to stock new version iPads for official launch Friday

The University Bookstore will have the iPad 3 in stock for sale on its official launch date, Friday, March 16.

“We are delighted to be able to announce that,” says marketing manager Martin Deck. “As an authorized campus store for Apple, it is wonderful to be in the position to offer this to our customers as early as anywhere in the world.”

Speaker to address sexual differentiation in spectatorship

Due to an editing error, Wednesday’s DailyNews published the wrong title for a public lecture tonight by Tracy Davis of Northwestern University.

The correct title of her presentation, part of the Humanities Research Group’s Distinguished Speakers Series, is “Spectatorship’s Sexual Differentiation: From Liberal Individualism to Relationalist Subjecthood.” It is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, in the Freed Orman Centre, Assumption University.

Customers flock to Bookstore bargains

The University Bookstore did a brisk business for its annual overstock sale, Tuesday in the CAW Sudent Centre Commons.

Students, staff and faculty took advantage of discounted prices to stock up on UWindsor apparel and thousands of books as low as 99 cents.

“We’ve had a great turnout and you can see customers are lined up,” said marketing manager Martin Deck.

Jenna Durette, a teacher candidate in the Faculty of Education, was one satisfied customer.

The Humanities Research Group’s Distinguished Speakers Series presents Tracy Davis delivering her free public lecture, entitled “How historical is spectatorship? Knowledge, expertise, insight and taste among racialized and gendered audiences in mid-Victorian Britain,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, in the Freed Orman Centre, Assumption University.

President issues message on Friday altercation

In a memo to students, staff and faculty on Monday, UWindsor president Alan Wildeman called a stabbing outside the CAW Student Centre during the early morning hours of Friday, March 9, “shocking and highly unusual for our campus.”

He credited the tremendous co-operation and teamwork of those responding to the situation with helping to maintain the safety of our community.

Annual sale to clear University Bookstore of overstock items

The University Bookstore will offer discounts on thousands of books, plus UWindsor-themed clothing, giftware, board games, and school, office and computer supplies during its annual overstock sale, Tuesday in the CAW Student Centre.

The sale will include books marked as low as 99 cents, and clothing priced to clear. It runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 13 in the centre’s Commons area.
