Filmmakers on hand for Wednesday screening

A documentary film on the musical traditions of Kashmir will enjoy a free public screening Wednesday, April 4, in the SoCA Armouries Performance Hall.

“Soz: A Ballad of Maladies” explores the struggle of artists and musicians negotiating questions of survival and freedom in the heavily-militarized region. Located at the junction of India, Pakistan, and China, Kashmir is embroiled in a territorial dispute among the three countries.

Directors Tushar Madhav and Sarvnik Kaur will discuss their film following the screening. The event begins at 4:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; the School of Creative Arts; the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminology; the Department of Communication, Media, and Film; and the In/Terminus Creative Research Collective.
